we think that people want to watch the best of the best. Evo fundamentally is not about that. It’s about creating an open entry tournament, right? The goal for Evo is to prove that you are the best of the best, and you don’t do that by going through, you know, a bracket of 16 other kind of vetted, sponsored professional-class players. You prove that you are the best in the world by running through a bracket of thousands of people over the course of a weekend.Fundamentally, those are very different goals, right? And the open entry tournament needs to be, it’s-it’s by and large, like entering in Evo is part of the ritual of being a-a member of the community. And what you’re saying there is, you’re say- you know, every time I enter Evo, and I enter every time I go, I compete - um, I don’t think I’m ever going to win it, but I want whoever wins it, I want to have the confidence that they are the best, right? That they made it through me, or they made it through the guy who beat me, or whatever, right? That, to me, is the distinction. Um, Evo, as an organization, and the fighting game tournaments largely, like, as long as they continue to be, um, open entry and available to anyone who’s willing to pony up the 50 bucks or whatever, um, it’s about participating. It’s a community of practice, right? And in that respect, it’s very similar to the martial arts community. I’m not going to be the best fighter in the world, but my goal is just to be a better fighter than I was yesterday.
