I say, “Go make a game.” I feel like anybody who wants to be an idea guy or what have you, who just wants to design, that haven’t - that hasn’t tried to, like, actually go and get their hands a bit dirty and, like, do a game jam or mess around with the - the free, easy to learn tools - I think it’s important for designers to have some experience with what they’re asking of people before they go and do it.I’ve definitely heard a lot of frustrated devs, um, that have to work for designers that have - have no experience in terms of actually putting stuff into practice that are like, yeah, he thinks that I’m a magician, that I can just make this happen, that I can will all of these art assets into life, and they don’t understand. So, I think just for, you know, proper communication between your team, I would say make a small game. See - see what you’re asking of people before you ask it, and that way you can at least speak the same language as the people that you’re working with.
